Questions & Answers for Two Solid Waste Collection Day Changes – Portion of Halifax Peninsula & Halifax Armdale Area
What is occurring in terms of collection day changes?
A neighbourhood in a portion of the Halifax Peninsula (Bayers Rd to Windsor St area) is changing collection day effective Tuesday, April 13th.
A neighbourhood in the Halifax Armdale area is changing collection day effective Wednesday, April 14th.
Notices are being distributed to residents on the affected streets in the two weeks prior to the collection day changes.
When is this occurring?
The collection day changes are occurring over the period April 13th and April 14th.
Who is affected by the change and where is it occurring?
Two neighbourhoods are changing, and notices will be delivered door-to-door to those residents who are affected. A two-sided yellow notice provides the list of streets and timing on one side and a map of the streets in the Bayers Rd to Windsor St area that are changing on the back side. A two-sided blue notice provides the list of streets and timing on one side and a map of the streets in the Armdale area of Halifax that are changing on the back side. The notices are being delivered door-to-door in a paper Notice envelope.
Why is the change occurring?
These changes are happening to better balance the number of households that are provided collection services on each day in the collection areas. The changes should enhance timeliness of municipal collection services and balance the number of households serviced on each collection day.
Will this impact my collection time through the day as well as changing my collection day?
Yes, residents in the affected areas should expect their collection times to vary in comparison to their current collection time (i.e. prior to the collection day change). Residents must place materials out by 7:00 a.m. on collection day to ensure collection.
