Halifax Water will be installing a water valve at the intersection of the Bedford Highway and Dartmouth Road in the overnight hours of Sunday, July 30th. In order to complete this valve work, water service to the following areas will be interrupted from approximately 10:00pm Sunday, July 30th to 6:00am Monday, July 31st:
- All streets accessed off Dartmouth Road east of the Bedford Highway and CN Railway.
- Valleyview Community south of Rocky Lake Dr. (Sunnydale Cres., Maple St., Birch St., George St., Gordon St., Central St., Balsam St., Summit St., south side of Rocky Lake Dr. west of Rockmanor Dr.)
- Bedford Highway between Division St. and Highway 102 Ramp
- Oakmount Dr. between the Bedford Highway and Civic 24.
- All of Shore Dr. including Shipyard Lane.
Residents can also use the interactive mapping application below to confirm they are in the water interruption zone:
(Open the Bedford Highway Valve Replacement: Limits of Water Service Interruption mapping application in a new browser window)
In advance of this planned water service interruption, residents/businesses within the zones noted above (also see attached map) should store enough water for use during the shutdown period, and as a precautionary measure, turn off their hot water tank. Customers with a sprinkler service should consult their service provider regarding the overnight water shutdown.
The Dartmouth bound right turn lane off the Bedford Highway will be closed for this work. The sidewalk will be closed between the intersection of Dartmouth Rd. and the Bedford Highway. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to help ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption.
Motorists are asked to use alternate routes where possible, to proceed carefully through the work zone and to expect delays. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
