Halifax Water will be performing maintenance activities to water valves at the intersection of the Bedford Highway and Dartmouth Road in the overnight hours of Sunday, August 27th. In order to complete this valve work, water service to the following areas will be interrupted from approximately 10:00pm Sunday, August 27th to 6:00am Monday, August 28th:
- Bedford Highway civic #1552 to 1789
- Central Street, Maple Street
- George Street
- Cedar Street
- Balsam Road
- Summit Street
- Birch Street
- Sunnydale Crescent
- Rocky Lake Drive Civic #1 to 158
- Oakmount Drive Civic #1 to 24 and 122 to 160
- North Street
- Main Street
- Brockwell Street
- Lister Drive.
In advance of this planned water service interruption, residents/businesses within the zones noted above (also see map below) should store enough water for use during the shutdown period, and as a precautionary measure, turn off their hot water tank. Customers with a sprinkler service should consult their service provider regarding the overnight water shutdown. After water service is restored, some customers may experience temporary discoloured water. Running cold water lines will clear water.
In order to complete this work, Dartmouth Road, at the intersection of the Bedford Highway, will be reduced to stop and go traffic starting at 8pm on Sunday, August 27th. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to help ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption.
Motorists are asked to use alternate routes where possible, to proceed carefully through the work zone and to expect delays. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
