A Halifax man has been charged for possessing and accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material online.
On May 12, the HRP/RCMP Integrated Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at the man’s residence on Beech Street in Halifax. Electronic devices and a firearm were seized.
Geoffrey Puxon Barnes, 56, will appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:
- possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- careless use/storage of a firearm
- unauthorized possession of a firearm
- possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
Anyone with information on child sexual abuse and exploitation is asked to file a report by calling police at 902-490-5020 or by using Cybertip, Canada's National Tip Line for reporting online sexual exploitation of children, at www.cybertip.ca.
