Police have charged four people for weapons related offences following an incident in Dartmouth yesterday.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., officers responded to an impaired driving complaint in a parking lot in the 0-40 block of Mic Mac Boulevard in Dartmouth. It was reported the occupants of a parked vehicle were smoking cannabis. Upon arrival, an officer approached the vehicle and immediately noted evidence of cannabis being used inside the vehicle.
While a search of the vehicle was being conducted, an officer located a firearm and ammunition inside the vehicle. All four occupants were subsequently arrested. During the arrest, a second firearm was located in the possession of one of the vehicle’s occupants. Both firearms and the vehicle were seized.
All four occupants, Tydreia Smith, 18, Morrina Grandy, 19, Tadray Edwards, 27 and Lennard Melville, 20, are scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face multiple firearms related charges. Lennard Melville is also facing multiple charges for failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
