Halifax Water will be flushing the fire hydrants and water distribution mains commencing Sunday, May 8, 2016 for approximately 4-5 weeks. This activity will occur in all areas of the Halifax Regional Municipality served by Halifax Water.
This work will take place between 10 pm and 6 am, Sunday to Friday, until completion. Hydrant flushing activities are carried out during overnight hours to cause the least amount of inconvenience to our customers.
Discoloured water and pressure fluctuations may occur during the flushing program. If discolouration of water occurs, it will not pose a health risk, and should disappear shortly. Customers are advised to visually check the water before use during the flushing timeframe.
Halifax Water is working to ensure that your water system is ready for peak summertime use. The hydrant and distribution system flushing program provides a spring cleaning and full exercise of the entire distribution system.
