Booking the Reception Hall

To book your event, view the facility, or for general inquiries, contact Susan Doucette at 902-490-4688 or doucetts@halifax.ca.

A $300 deposit payable by cash, cheque, debit, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express and a signed copy of St. Mary's Boat Club rental agreement is required when booking.


What is included in your rental?

  • Rectangle tables: 17- 2.5’ x 8’, 8- 2.5’ x 6’, 2- 2.5 ’x 5’
  • Round tables: 19- 5’ diameter (seats 8)
  • Chairs: 200
  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday facility access beginning at 10 am, with the hall closing at midnight.
  • Use of the kitchen, fridge, oven, freezer, and microwave.
  • SMBC staff is available on-site during event.
  • All other items (catering, dishes, linens, equipment, decorations, bar service, music) are the responsibility of the renter.

 

When is the Reception Hall available for rent?

St. Mary’s Boat Club is open year round.

 

What are the fees?

Full day rental:
$700 + special event fees + $300 refundable security deposit*

Weekday daytime:
$70/hr. or $560 full day

Evening/weekend:
$140/hr.

Not-for-profit:
50% off all day Sunday or Wednesday evenings (alcohol free)

Booking Fee:
$28.75

*Required at time of booking. Returned 5 business days after event provided there is no damage to facility and all guidelines are respected.

 

Accessibility:

Inside the facility's main floor is accessible. However, there is no barrier free path of travel from the parking lot to inside the facility. The Boat House in not accessible.

Cancellations:

Monday to Thursday events require a 30-day notice of cancellation to receive the full deposit refund.

Friday to Saturday events require a 3-month notice of cancellation to receive the full deposit refund.

Music Sound Levels:

Due to our location in a residential neighborhood, we may monitor sound levels at our events. Windows and doors must remain closed on the north side of the building and building monitors may measure the sound level from time to time. Live music is permitted during Friday and Saturday events only. Due to our location in a residential neighborhood, all rentals must end at midnight, with no exceptions. At midnight, music must be turned off.

Smoking:

St. Mary’s Boat Club is a non-smoking facility.
