November 2019 Service Adjustments
On November 25, 2019, Halifax Transit will introduce large-scale service changes in Sackville, Bedford, Dartmouth, and Halifax Mainland South as part of the Moving Forward Together Plan. These service changes are outlined in Halifax Transit's 2019/2020 Annual Service Plan, which was approved by Regional Council in April 2019.

New Corridor Route 8 Sackville
This new corridor route replaces the existing route 80 Sackville. There will be no changes to the route 80 routing.

New Local Route 25 Governors Brook
This new local route will provide service between the Governor's Brook subdivision and Mumford Terminal via Williams Lake Road and Purcells Cove Road.

New Local Route 64 Burnside
This new local route will provide service in the Burnside Industrial Park between the Marketplace Drive / Wrights Cove area and Highfield Terminal.

Changed Local Route 66 Penhorn
This changed route will provide service between Gaston Road, Penhorn Terminal and Highfield Terminal via Micmac Terminal. This route will follow the same route as the existing route 66 Penhorn between these areas.
The existing route will be changed to end at Highfield Terminal. That means it will no longer provide service to Cobequid Terminal or within Burnside Industrial Park which is what the route currently does on Saturdays and Sundays.

New Local Route 82 First Lake & New Express Route 182 First Lake
This new local route will provide service between Sackville Terminal and Cobequid Terminal via First Lake Drive. During rush hour local route 82 will be replaced by the new express route 182 in the peak direction to provide express service between the First Lake Drive area and downtown Halifax via Dartmouth Road and Windmill Road. All stops in the local service area will be serviced by the new express route.

New Local Route 83 Springfield & New Express Route 183 Springfield
This new local route will provide service between Springfield Estates and Sackville Terminal via Sackville Drive and provides new service on Beaconsfield Way, Darlington Drive, Hanwell Drive and Swindon Drive. During rush hour local route 83 will be replaced by the new express route 183 in the peak direction to provide express service between the Springfield Estates area and downtown Halifax via Highway 101, Bedford Bypass and Windmill Road. All stops in the local service area will be serviced by the express route.
Note: these new routes will not travel through the Downsview Mall.

New Local Route 84 Glendale
This new local route will provide service between Sackville Terminal and Scotia Square following similar routing to the existing route 84 Glendale Express. This new local route will no longer provide service from Scotia Square to Summer Street.

New Local Route 85 Millwood & New Express Route 185 Millwood
This new local route will provide service between Millwood subdivision and Sackville Terminal and provides new service on Jackladder Drive, Rossing Drive and Beaver Bank Cross Road. During rush hour local route 85 will be replaced by the new express route 185 in the peak direction to provide express service between the Millwood subdivision and downtown Halifax via Highway 101, Bedford Bypass and Windmill Road. All stops in the local service area will be serviced by the express route.
Note: these new routes travel in one direction from Millwood Drive to Beaver Bank Cross Road.

New Local Route 86 Beaver Bank & New Express Route 186 Beaver Bank
This new local route will provide service between the Kinsac Community Centre and Sackville Terminal via Beaver Bank Road. The PM School trip will no longer enter Woodbine Park community but will stop on Beaver Bank Road instead. During rush hour local route 86 will be replaced by the new express route 186 in the peak direction to provide express service between Beaver Bank Road and downtown Halifax via Highway 101, Bedford Bypass and Windmill Road. All stops in the local service area will be serviced by the express route.

New Express Routes 183, 185 and 186
These three new express routes will provide a combined level of service to replace the existing 185 Sackville Link. These routes will travel between Sackville Terminal and Scotia Square along the exact same route as the existing 185 Sackville Link but with a new extension to Summer Street. These new express routes will also provide new local service in Sackville past the Sackville Terminal.

New Local Route 87 Sackville – Dartmouth
This new local route will provide service between Sackville Terminal and Dartmouth Bridge Terminal via Sackville Drive, Dartmouth Road and Windmill Road. This route will travel on Sackville Drive and will replace service on Bedford Highway and Dartmouth Road where existing route 66 Penhorn service will be removed.

Changed Local Route 88 Bedford Commons
This existing route will be extended to provide service between Sackville Terminal and Bedford Commons. It will travel on Walker Avenue and Old Sackville Road and continue to service Cobequid Terminal. This route is being extended, no change will be made to the existing portion of the route.

Changed Local Route 90 Larry Uteck
This existing route will be extended to provide service to West Bedford via Larry Uteck Boulevard, Broad Street, Gary Martin Drive to Innovation Drive. This route is only being extended, no change will be made to the existing portion of the route.

New Local Route 91 Hemlock Ravine
This new local route will provide service between West Bedford and Mumford Terminal, via Bedford South and Bedford Highway.

New Local Route 93 Bedford Highway
This new local route will provide service between Cobequid Terminal and downtown Halifax via Bedford Highway. This new route will travel to Scotia Square via Lady Hammond Road, Duffus Street, and Barrington Street and will service all stops along the route.

New Rural Route 415 Purcells Cove
This new rural route will provide service between York Redoubt and Mumford Terminal via Purcells Cove Road during the weekday peak period. This new rural route will now end at Mumford Terminal instead of continuing to the Bayers Road Shopping Centre as the existing Route 15 Purcells Cove does. Riders can transfer to corridor route 2 Fairview, local route 28 Bayers Lake or 29 Barrington to continue to the shopping centre.

Beginning on Monday, May 27, 2019, we’re replacing Route 86 Basinview Express with Route 196 Basinview Express.
We will also be introducing new bus stop St. Margarets Bay Road after Crescent Avenue (2035).

Current Route 86 Basinview Express will become new Route 196 Basinview Express. All existing bus stops and trips will remain the same. This number change will ensure the route meets the Moving Forward Together Plan’s criteria for express route numbering.

Beginning on Monday, February 18, 2019, we’re updating the following routes:

We’re also introducing Easter Sunday Holiday Service to Alderney Ferry.
Route 39 Flamingo
This route has been updated to include a later trip from Bridge Terminal to Lacewood Terminal on weekdays. This trip will depart at 10:57pm.
Route 123 Timberlea Express
This route has been updated to include stops along St. Margarets Bay Road. The route will also now travel via Chebucto Road, Cunard Street, Robie Street, and Bell Road rather than Quinpool Road.

Route 194 West Bedford Express
This route is moving to the new section of Broad Street in Larry Uteck. Inbound to Halifax, Route 194 will turn left onto Broad Street instead of right. In the outbound direction, Route 194 will turn right at the first entrance to Broad Street, then right on Gary Martin Drive to complete the loop.
The express portion of this trip will now travel along Dunbrack Street through Clayton Park.

This route has had a minor schedule adjustment on James Street to minimize layovers.
Route 330 Tantallon/Sheldrake Lake
This route has had a minor routing change to the express portion as it leaves downtown Halifax. Route 330 will now access Gottingen Street from Duke Street instead of North Street on its outbound trip.

Starting Monday, August 20, you’ll have three new corridor routes to choose from (Routes 2, 3, and 4). A corridor route provides a frequent level of service all day along major streets and provides direct connections to terminals.

Express Routes
Residents of Clayton Park! Starting Monday, August 20, you’ll have four new express routes to choose from (Routes 135, 136, 137, and 138) and Timberlea will be served by a new express route (Route 123). An express route provides commuters with a high quality, limited stop transit service during peak periods.

Rural Routes
Starting Monday, August 20, the Route 33 will become Rural Route 433. A rural route provides connections between rural communities and transit service in the urban area, by bringing passengers to the nearest transit terminal.

Effective Monday, February 19, 2018
Increased daytime Alderney Ferry service
Halifax Transit is pleased to announce that it will be offering more frequent ferry daytime service starting Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
For a trial period, the Alderney Ferry will offer 15-minute weekday service from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. End of day service between 8– 11:30 p.m. will operate on 30-minute intervals.
Fast and reliable harbour crossing
This service change is a pilot project intended to make midday travel between Dartmouth and Halifax more convenient.
There are several bus routes you can take to connect with the 15-minute ferry intervals and many park and ride locations throughout the region that can get you access to your desired bus route. Parking is also available at the Alderney terminal.

New Route 9 Herring Cove
Route 19 Greystone & Route 20 Herring Cove will be combined into the new Route 9 Herring Cove connecting downtown and Spryfield - with branches to Greystone and Herring Cove.

New Route 29 Barrington
Route 9 Barrington will be replaced by the new Route 29 Barrington - with more service, more often, to more places, including the Halifax Ferry Terminal and the Bayers Road Centre.
Discontinued Route 6 Quinpool
Route 6 Quinpool will be discontinued. Riders affected by these changes may wish to consider one of the following options:
- St. Margarets Bay Road or beyond: Route 14 Leiblin Park, 22 Armdale, 32 Cowie Hill Express, or the new Route 9 Herring Cove
- Joseph Howe Road or Mumford Road: Route 14 Leiblin Park, or one of many routes from Mumford Terminal including the new Route 9 Herring Cove
- Quinpool Road west of Connaught Avenue: the 32 Cowie Hill Express or to walk beyond the rotary or Connaught Avenue for higher levels of service on the new Route 9 Herring Cove
- Quinpool Road east of Connaught Avenue: the new Route 9 Herring Cove or services on Oxford Street or Robie Street

Additional changes
Route 22 Armdale
As of November 27, 2017, Route 22 will no longer serve Exhibition Park. Riders affected by this change can consider the Mumford Terminal park and ride as an alternate location.
Macdonald bridge transit routes
As of November 27, 2017, Halifax Transit will discontinue its shuttle service that has been in operation during the Macdonald Bridge Redecking Project and will return to regular routings.

- No longer serving Micmac Terminal
- Porters Lake to Micmac evening service will be discontinued
- Minor schedule adjustments related to this change
New Bus Bay Assignments: Mumford Terminal and Scotia Square

New Route 194 West Bedford Express
Halifax Transit is pleased to offer new service for the residents of West Bedford who commute downtown or to the Hospitals.
Introducing the 194 West Bedford Express – a new express route right into the heart of Halifax. With four morning trips into downtown and four evening trips into West Bedford - Monday to Friday.
The Route 194 West Bedford Express will service existing and new stops in West Bedford and on Larry Uteck west of Highway 102. The service will run non-stop between Larry Uteck and Kempt Road. Between Kempt Road and Downtown Halifax the route will service limited stops.

Effective September 2017, the following school specific routes will no longer be in operation due to low usage or duplication by other Halifax Transit routes:
Astral Drive Jr. High School (Route SP65)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the Route 65 Caldwell also travels in close proximity to the school.
Bicentennial Jr. High School (Route SP53)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the Routes 16 Parkland, 52 Crosstown, 53 Notting Park, and 87 Glendale also travel in close proximity to the school.
Cunard Jr. High School (Route SP14/S14)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the Routes 14 Leiblin Park, 19 Greystone, and 20 Herring Cove also travel in close proximity to the school.
Clayton Park Jr. High School (Route FV01)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the Routes 17 St. Mary's, 42 Lacewood / Dalhousie, and 52 Crosstown also travel in close proximity to the school.
Dartmouth High School (Route SP53)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the Routes 16 Parkland, 52 Crosstown, 53 Notting Park, and 87 Glendale also travel in close proximity to the school.
Fairview Jr. High School (Route FV01)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the Routes 2 Wedgewood and 4 Rosedale also travel in close proximity to the school.
Halifax West High School (Route FV01)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the Routes 16 Parkland and 89 Bedford also travel in close proximity to the school.
J.L. Ilsley High School (Route SP14)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the routes 19 Greystone and 20 Herring Cove also travel in close proximity to the school.
Prince Andrew High School (Route SP58)
Should you wish to continue using Halifax Transit to journey to school, the routes 58 Woodlawn and 72 Portland Hills also travel in close proximity to the school.
Additional Changes
330 Tantallon-Sheldrake Lake
Halifax Transit is happy to announce a new schedule with an additional trip for the Route 330 Tantallon-Sheldrake Lake serving Tantallon.
