14-127133 - Motor Vehicle Collision - Impaired Driving

On September 2 at 12:30 a.m., on duty officers heard what sounded like a collision in the area of Oxford Street and South Street in Halifax. Officers responded to the area and noted a vehicle on the sidewalk at that intersection. The occupants had exited the vehicle and were in the area of the accident and were quickly located. All occupants were assessed by EHS and there were no injuries that required hospital treatment.

The vehicle involved in this accident was travelling North on Beaufort Avenue towards Oxford Street when it struck a power pole on the west side of the roadway causing damage to the power pole. The vehicle continued to travel North on Beaufort Avenue striking another power pole at the intersection on Oxford Street and South Street where the vehicle came to a rest. Power was affected in the area as a result of the accident. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old Halifax man, is facing impaired driving charges and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
