On December 4, officers arrested the man without incident on Gottingen Street. He was brought to Police Headquarters where he was interviewed and later released on a promise to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on January 13, 2015. The 58-year-old Halifax man faces charges of break and enter, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen goods under $5,000.

We thank everyone who helped by sharing the suspect’s pictures on various social media platforms and calling in tips regarding his identity. Recent incidents demonstrate both the power of social media and the important role citizens play in helping police fight crime.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance to identify a man responsible for a break and enter that occurred last month in Halifax.

On October 30, at 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a break and enter in progress in the 1400 block of Henry Street. Residents of an apartment returned home and observed a man leaving their residence with stolen electronics. They confronted the man and recovered the stolen items but the man was able to flee on foot before police arrival.

The suspect is a white man, in his fifties, 5’9”, 150 lbs, with a gap between his front teeth. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black jacket, dirty blue jeans and white shoes.
