14-29512 Wanted man arrested in relation to abduction

On March 2 at 4:50 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 3000 block of McAlpine Avenue. A 19-year-old man called police from inside a residence and reported he had been assaulted and was being held against his will by several men. He also advised that one of the suspects had a handgun. He made his way out of the residence to awaiting police members and was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 

Two 16-year-old male youths, a 16-year-old female youth and 20-year-old Daniel Angus Ryan are currently facing numerous charges in relation to this incident. This was not a random act as the accused and the victim are known to each other.

On March 5, an arrest warrant was issued for the arrest of 21-year-old Robert Roech Chan of Halifax. He is facing nine weapon-related offences, in addition to one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery.

On March 19,   at approximately 10:00 p.m., Patrol Officers as well as members of the Central Quick Response Unit arrested Robert Chan at a residence on MicMac Street in Halifax. Mr. Chan is in custody and will be attending court on March 20th, 2014 in Halifax Provincial Court.
