On May 12, shortly after 2 a.m., officers responded to the Saint Andrews Church located at 6036 Coburg Road in Halifax to assist Halifax Regional Fire and emergencies at an alarm call. The church was insecure and It appears that some type of accelerant was used to set two small piles of debris on fire inside the church, which were quickly extinguished and caused minimal damages. A search was conducted with the use of a k-9 unit with negative results. The scene was secured and will be processed by a forensic identification unit this morning. Police do not have any suspects at this time. The investigation will continue today.
