On June 7, at 11:36 a.m. a caller reported a man walking back and forth on the roof of a building on Dawn Drive in Dartmouth’s Burnside Industrial Park carrying a rifle. There was nobody visible on the roof when responding members arrived. A perimeter was established and three buildings within the property, a scrapyard compound, were evacuated. Halifax Regional Police Emergency Response Team members eventually scoured the compound and it’s buildings. Nobody was found but an unsafely stored rifle and two pellet guns were discovered during the search. The scene was cleared by police just before 6 p.m. The matter remains under investigation. Halifax Regional Police thanks the public and in particular the employees and patrons of the involved and surrounding businesses who were affected by the day’s events for their cooperation.
