On June 23, at 10:00 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a 911 call in the area of the Maskwa Canoe club on Saskatoon Avenue in Halifax to assist in locating a 55-year-old woman who was lost in the woods. As a result, the missing woman’s 22-year-old son entered the woods before police arrival and also became lost. Two K-9 units were deployed and even though they could hear the missing people they could not locate them. Halifax Ground Search and Rescue were activated around midnight to assist. The two parties were quite a distance from each other and several search teams were sent into the woods. Rescue teams eventually located both parties and escorted them out of the woods. Both persons were cold and tired but did not require any medical attention.
