On July 6, at 12:30 p.m., Halifax Regional Police members responded to the parking lot of Costco on Countryview Drive in Dartmouth for a dog in a vehicle in distress. Officers located a small dog in a truck with the windows down slightly. The officer felt the dogs health was in jeopardy and smashed the rear window of the truck and removed the dog. The dog was placed in the air conditioned police vehicle until the owner was located. The dog was turned over to the owner and advised of the dangers of leaving animals in vehicles on hot days.
