14-95000 - Attempted murder

On July at 8:21 p.m., HRP officers responded to a weapons complaint in the 0-100 block of Williams Lake Road in Halifax after a man was shot. Officers located a 46-year-old male victim who had suffered a single gunshot wound. Containment was set up, a K-9 track was initiated and five male suspects were located and taken into custody without incident nearby.  HRP FIS and members of the Integrated  CID attended to continue the investigation. The  victim was transported to hospital by EHS with life-threatening injuries but is now in stable condition. Four of the five suspects were later released from cusotdy. This was not a random act has the suspect and the victim are know to each other. The firearm has not been recovered. A 20-year-old man will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today facing the following 17 charges.

88 CC - Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose,

92(1) CC - Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,

95 CC Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,

117.01(1) CC - Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order and

145(3) CC - Breach of Recognizance X 4.
