On April 10 at approximately 11:30 pm a 9-1-1 call was received regarding a person that had fallen into the harbour near 1869 Upper Water Street.  Civilians were present and attempted to assist the individual by throwing a floatation device to him.  One person went into the water to assist.  HRP members were the first responders to attend and without hesitation a police officer went into the water to assist in the rescue.  The quick thinking of another officer fashioned a lasso from some rope which was subsequently secured around the male in distress.  Then a collaborate effort by police and civilians helped pull the man out to safety.   The officer involved was treated for minor injuries at the hospital then released.  The other two parties did not incur any serious injuries however remained in hospital for observation at the time of this report.
