Halifax Regional Police is currently on the scene of a stabbing in the 100 block of Portland Street in Dartmouth. At 2:14 a.m. we responded to a report of fight on the sidewalk outside 88 Portland Street. Once officer arrived on scene, they located a 59-year-old unconscious man. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene by EHS. It is unclear at this time how many individuals were involved in the original fight and there is no description of any suspects.
The investigation is in its initial stages and has been handed by the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
Portland Street between King and Queen Streets was blocked to traffic for an extended period of time, it re-opened to traffic around 9:30 a.m. this morning.
