Halifax Regional Police responded to the middle of the MacKay Bridge at 8:35 p.m. last evening. A car with two occupants was Halifax bound when it crossed the centre line and struck a pickup truck head on. A male driver was the lone occupant of the truck. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and towed from the scene. Only one lane was closed, causing traffic delays. No injuries were reported.

A 43-year-old Halifax man, who was the driver of the car, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusing the breathalyzer. He has been released and will appear in court at a later date.
