Thursday, June 26, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – Festivities for the 37th Bedford Days celebration will get underway today, despite the bad weather, and will run through the weekend until Tuesday, July 1.

Bedford Days is a much anticipated and unique opportunity for Bedford and area residents of all ages to interact and celebrate their community.

There are dozens of events planned, including a whole day of family fun tied in to the Canada Day celebrations on Tuesday, July 1. All events are organized by local individuals and organizations to encourage recreation, sport and community celebration.

Because of the heavy rain expected to continue into this evening, the Kids Extravaganza event is moving indoors at the Bedford Place Mall, from 7-9 p.m. Entertainment will include Milo T. Clown, Illusions Rhythmic Gymnastics, the Atlantic Cirque Musical Show, face painting and Slimy Science Activities with the Discovery Centre.

The wagon rides originally planned for today will now take place on Tuesday, July 1, at DeWolf Park during the Teddy Bear Picnic. The event will run from 12:30-3 p.m. The fireworks show will be added to the Canada Day celebrations on Tuesday, July 1st, which run from 7:30-10:30 p.m.

Unfortunately, Theodore Too and the interactive art activities are cancelled due to the rain and there will be no bouncy castles or other activities at DeWolf Park this evening. Instead, the bouncy castles will be open on Sunday, June 29, from 1-4 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 1, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and 6-9:45 p.m.
