Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 (Halifax, NS) – The final countdown is on to the 5th annual Halifax Hopscotch Urban Arts Festival this weekend on the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts.

Come check out Atlantic Canada’s first ever drive-in concert on Friday, Sept. 26, featuring more than 100 artists, emcees, deejays and dancers. Everything you witness live on stage will be heard inside your vehicle! Scientists of Sound are headlining, while artists from around the world create 6,000 square feet of live art.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, New York-based deejay, araabMUZIK, will put on a free outdoor concert on the Halifax waterfront at Sackville Landing. The show will feature a breakdance battle, African drumming and the chance for attendees to take part in a massive dance circle.

At 10 p.m., the Marquee Ballroom welcomes producer/deejay, Just Blaze, also out of New York, in Halifax to showcase why he is the mastermind behind the music for superstars like Rihanna, Eminem, Maroon 5, Jay-Z and Kanye West. Attendees must be 19 years or older and pay a $10 cover at the door.

Tickets are still available for headliners Lil Jon and Tech N9ne, playing at the Cunard Centre on Sunday, Sept. 28. Go to www.ticketatlantic.com and enter promo code FROSH for a special discount!

The vision of Hopscotch is to unite, energize and support the region’s vibrant and diverse music and youth communities. In keeping with that theme, there will be opportunities all weekend long for young people to participate in free workshops celebrating youth and diversity. These events provide a platform and the resources needed to advance the growth of local arts as a tool for positive youth engagement and dialogue at the individual, community and regional level.

This year the Hopscotch Festival is brought to you by Halifax Events, Canadian Heritage, Waterfront Development and 101.3 The BOUNCE.
