Arrests made in relation to robbery

Halifax Regional Police arrested a woman for a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth on July 22. A man was also arrested as a result of the investigation.

At 4:20 p.m., a woman entered the Family Drug Mart at 382 Portland Street in Dartmouth. She proceeded to the pharmacy counter, threatened staff with a can of sensory irritant and demanded drugs. The woman fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of prescription drugs and cash. No one was physically injured during the robbery.  

On July 30 at approximately 10 p.m., investigators from the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested a woman and a man at a residence in the 2500 block of Gottingen Street in relation with this robbery. 

Twenty-two-year-old Bianca Lynn Mercer of Halifax has been remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Tuesday to face charges of robbery, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and possession of stolen property under $5000.00. 

Twenty-nine year old Jason Kyle DeYoung of Halifax was also charged with possession of stolen property under $5000.00 and possession of a prohibited weapon as a result of the investigation and has also been remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility to await court on Tuesday.
