On September 3 at 10:37 p.m., Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to a vehicle and structure fire at 20 Angus Morton Drive, Halifax. Callers reported hearing a loud bang and then observing flames. Officers located a pickup truck engulfed in flames and a building next to the truck also on fire. Witnesses reported a vehicle fleeing the area last seen heading in the direction of Hammonds Plains Road.

At 11:18 p.m., patrol and K9 located a man with minor non-life-threatening injuries in a wooded area near Hammonds Plains Road.

Fire investigators confirmed the fire was intentionally set and the arson investigation has been turned over to police. The arson investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating.  A 34-year-old man from Hammonds Plains is held for court and is facing charges of Arson and Property Damage over $5000.
