Body Located in Harbour - Update

Yesterday afternoon, Halifax Regional Police recovered a body floating in Halifax Harbour. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition; therefore, the person has yet to be identified. The body was transported to the medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed today.

The matter remains under investigation.

September 4, 2013 (3:45 p.m.)

At 2:40 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an object floating in Halifax Harbour. With the help of a Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency boat, the object was determined to be a human body. Emergency personnel and the medical examiner office are currently in the process of removing the body from the water.

At this time, the gender of the body and the cause of death are unknown. The matter remains under investigation. Updates will be provided as they become available.
