A man is facing a number of charges following a break and enter that occurred in downtown Halifax earlier this week.

On October 21, at 9 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a break and enter that occurred earlier that day at Durty Nelly’s, located at 5221 Sackville Street. A review of video surveillance showed a man entering the bar overnight and stole a number of bottles of alcohol, along with an amount of cash.

The investigation led officers to execute a search warrant at an apartment in the 1200 block of Hollis Street yesterday. A man was arrested at the scene without incident. Investigators located some of the stolen alcohol, a large amount of cocaine, marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia and three handguns with ammunition.

Thirty-three-year-old Tyrell John Holland of Halifax was held in custody overnight. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face one count each of break and enter, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen goods under $5,000, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and 18 weapon-related charges.
