Break and Enter/Theft of Vehicle Charges

A man faces charges in connection with three incidents over the past six months where stolen vehicles were used to break into businesses in Dartmouth.

At approximately 11 a.m. yesterday, an East Division patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on Maple Street in Dartmouth and arrested a man for driving while disqualified. Through the investigation, officers allege the man is linked to the following incidents:

- September 30, 2012 – a truck stolen in Dartmouth was used to smash in the front entrance of Glubes Sound Studio on Main Street in Dartmouth. Electronic items were taken.

- December 17, 2012 – a truck stolen in Dartmouth was used to smash in the front entrance of Mighty Small Cars on Windmill Road in Dartmouth. Electronic items were taken.

- January 2, 2013 – a truck stolen in Lower Sackville was used to smash in the front entrance of Platinum Pawn on Main Street in Dartmouth. No property was taken.

Thirty-six-year-old Paul Jason Elliot of Dartmouth appeared in court this morning to face the following charges:

- CC 259 (4) – Driving while disqualified (3 counts)- CC 333.1 (1) – Motor vehicle theft (3 counts)- CC 348 (1) (b) – Breaking and entering with intent (2 counts)- CC 348 (1) (a) – Breaking and entering with intent (1 count)- CC 145 (3)- Breach of recognizance (1 count)
