Halifax Regional Police has charged a Metro Transit bus driver following a bus/pedestrian collision this morning in Dartmouth.

At 7:53 a.m., police responded to a bus/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Wyse Road and Thistle Street. A 26-year-old woman crossing Wyse Road in a marked crosswalk was hit by a Metro Transit bus turning from Thistle Street onto Wyse Road. She was treated at the scene by EHS for minor injuries. A 48-year-old female bus driver was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police remind motorists and pedestrians that road safety is a shared responsibility. Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the road and drive defensively. Be particularly mindful at crosswalks and keep a watchful eye for pedestrians. Pedestrians are reminded to make eye contact with drivers and wait until vehicles come to a complete stop before attempting to cross the road at marked and unmarked crosswalks.
