Bus/Pedestrian Collision

Halifax Regional Police has charged a Halifax Transit bus driver following a bus/pedestrian collision this morning in Dartmouth. 

At 6:52 a.m., police responded to a bus/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Portland Street and the exit to the Portland Hills Terminal. A 22-year-old woman crossing Portland Street in a marked crosswalk was hit by a bus turning left from the Portland Hills Terminal onto Portland Street. She was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life threatening injuries.

A 43-year-old male bus driver was issued a summary offence ticket under section 125(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. This ticket carries a fine of $693.95 and four points on a driver’s license upon conviction.
