The Halifax Regional Municipality is looking for an artist from the African Nova Scotian community to assist in the development of an interpretive panel on the corner of Gottingen and Falkland streets, formerly known as Squiggle Park.
The interpretive panel is to reflect on the former use of the site as the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEZ) and the importance of the church and spirituality in the African Nova Scotian Community.
The municipality would like to include an artistic rendering of the AMEZ church, and is seeking an artist who will work with the municipality and the African Nova Scotian community to create a meaningful design.
Important dates:
- An information session for all interested artists will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 3 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Click here at 3 p.m. on June 30 to participate in the meeting.
- The deadline for submissions is July 12, 2021.
Please note: The selected artist will be required to participate in community discussions hosted by the municipality throughout July and August.

La municipalité régionale d’Halifax cherche un artiste de la communauté afro-néo-écossaise pour aider à l’élaboration d’un panneau d’interprétation à l’angle des rues Gottingen et Falkland, anciennement connues sous le nom de Squiggle Park.
Le panneau d’interprétation doit réfléchir à l’ancienne utilisation du site en tant que l’African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEZ) et à l’importance de l’Église et de la spiritualité dans la communauté afro-néo-écossaise.
La municipalité inclura une représentation artistique de l’église AMEZ, et cherche un artiste qui travaillera avec la municipalité et la communauté afro-néo-écossaise pour créer une conception significative.

- Une séance d’information pour tous les artistes intéressés aura lieu le mercredi 30 juin 2021 à 15 h avec Microsoft Teams. Cliquez ici à 15 h, le 30 juin, pour participer à la réunion.
- La date limite pour présenter les soumissions est le 12 juillet 2021.
Veuillez remarquer ce qui suit : L’artiste sélectionné devra participer à des discussions communautaires organisées par la municipalité tout au long des mois de juillet et d’août.
