Charge laid in Kaylin Diggs homicide
Investigators with the Homicide Unit of the HRP/RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a man in relation to the homicide of Kaylin Diggs.
On August 11, 2012 at 3:49 a.m., police responded to a disturbance in the area of Argyle and Sackville Streets. Officers found 26-year-old Kaylin Diggs lying on the ground unconscious. He was transported to hospital where he passed away a short time later. The investigation determined that Kaylin was walking southbound on Argyle Street when an altercation took place and he was assaulted and knocked to the ground.
Earlier today, investigators arrested 23-year-old Devon Marteeko Downey of Halifax after he turned himself in at Police headquarters. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court this afternoon to face a charge of manslaughter.
We are hopeful that these charges will assist with the healing process for Kaylin’s family and friends. Our thoughts remain with them and everyone who was affected by his tragic passing.
