Charges in graffiti incident

Four people face charges for spreading graffiti early Saturday morning in Halifax.

Shortly after midnight, officers assigned to the Central Quick Response Unit arrested three men and a male youth after observing them paint graffiti on traffic signs and utility boxes in the area of Gladstone and North Streets.

The three men, all 19, and the 17-year-old male youth, each face a charge of property damage. They were release from custody under a number of conditions and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court and Halifax Provincial Youth Court, respectively, at a later date.  

Spreading graffiti is a crime and its presence can impact our community’s reputation, property values and citizens’ sense of pride and safety. If you observe someone spreading graffiti, call police immediately at 902-490-5020.
