Charges laid in two separate drug searches

Six people face charges in relation to two separate drug searches which were conducted in HRM last Friday.

At 5:45 p.m. on January 17, officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 0-100 block of Autumn Drive in Halifax. Officers seized a quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash. Nineteen-year-old Cassandra Walker was arrested at the scene and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on March 4 to face a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Twenty-three-year-old Donald Verge was also arrested at the scene and held in custody. He appeared in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday to face charges of possession of a controlled substance and breach of a previously imposed court order.

At 8:50 p.m. the same day, investigators executed another search warrant at a residence on Alder Street in Dartmouth. They seized a quantity of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash. Two women and two men were arrested at the scene and were released from custody. They all face a charge of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on February 25. The information against these individuals has yet to be sworn in court so they cannot be named at this time.
