Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 (Halifax, NS) - The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there will be no municipal solid waste collection services provided on Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014. Collection of garbage, organics and recyclables normally scheduled for Christmas Day will be provided on the following Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014.
There will be no municipal garbage, organics or recyclables collection services on New Year’s Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015. Collection services for that day will be provided on the following Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.
Residents are advised that municipal solid waste collection services will occur as regularly scheduled on Dec. 24, Dec. 26 (Boxing Day), Dec. 31, and Jan. 2.
The Otter Lake Waste Processing and Disposal Facility, the two composting facilities and the recycling plant at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but will be open on Saturday, Dec. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 3 with normal operating hours. The Otter Lake Facility will be closed Sunday, Dec. 28.
The Halifax Regional Municipality’s residential Household Special Waste (HSW) Depot located at 20 Horseshoe Lake Dr. will be open on Saturday, Dec. 20, and closed on Saturday, Dec. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 3. The depot will reopen Saturday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
