Halifax Regional Police has laid charges following a two-vehicle collision in Dartmouth on Sunday morning which involved a police SUV.

On July 20 at 12:30 a.m., a K-9 officer driving a marked police SUV, along with his police service dog and a police cadet, were driving southbound on Wyse Road at Nantucket Avenue when a Ford Escape travelling eastbound failed to stop at the red light and collided with the police SUV. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

As part of the investigation, the 35-year-old female driver of the Escape was arrested for impaired driving. She was transported to Dartmouth General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 30 to face charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Thankfully, the officer, cadet and K-9 dog were uninjured in the collision. photo damagedpoliceSUV_zps2f43e810.jpg
