Drug charges

A man and a woman face charges after a traffic stop this morning in Dartmouth.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., officers assigned to the East Quick Response Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Windmill Road after observing a vehicle speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign. The male driver and a female passenger were arrested at the scene without incident and officers seized a quantity of marihuana and crack cocaine.

Twenty-seven-year-old Mathew Frank Murray of Truro and 21-year-old Alexandra Maude Roy of Sainte-Hypolite, Quebec, are each charged with possession of marihuana and possession of cocaine. They were held in custody and appeared in court this morning. Matthew Murray was also charged with two counts of breach of a recognizance.
