Enforcement of new traffic signs on Withrod Drive

Halifax Regional Police is advising citizens that officers will be monitoring the intersection of Withrod and Elizabeth Drives to ensure compliance with new traffic signs.

In response to a number of complaints from citizens, the Halifax Regional Municipality recently installed a new set of traffic signs at the intersection of Withrod and Elizabeth Drives in Halifax. The signs prohibit left-hand turns onto Elizabeth Drive between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., Monday to Friday. Officers assigned to the area continue to see a large number of drivers turning left onto Elizabeth Drive during the prohibited time.

Over the next few weeks, officers will be monitoring the intersection to ensure compliance with the new signs. Drivers found to be violation may be issued a Summary Offence Ticket for failing to obey a traffic sign or signal under section 83(2) of the Motor Vehicle Act, which carries a fine of $176.45 upon conviction.
