Five Men Charged with Internet Luring

The HRP/RCMP Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) and Vice Unit have charged five men following a four day operation.

As a result of a noted increase in the amount of young women engaged in online prostitution, an operation was initiated by investigators where men agreed to pay for sex with a 16-year-old child by communicating online. The officer exchanged hundreds of emails with adult men and arranged meetings for sexual services to take place at local hotels.

Five men, ranging in age from 25 to 57, were arrested as they attended the hotel rooms. The following men were released on conditions and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on April 2, 2013 to face charges of using a computer to communicate with a person believed to be under 18 for the purpose of engaging in prostitution:

These investigations include the making, possession, accessing and distribution of child pornography and internet luring of children.
