At 3:36 p.m. on Friday, January 20, members of the Halifax Regional Police responded to J.L. Ilsley High School located at 38 Sylvia Avenue in Halifax in response to an assault with a weapon that occurred on school grounds. Upon arrival members determined that a 17-year-old male student was stabbed with a knife during an altercation with another 17-year-old male student. The victim received a wound to his arm and was taken to hospital by a family member for treatment. The suspect turned himself in to police upon their arrival at the school. The students are known to one another. The weapon was recovered and the matter remains under investigation at this time. Weapons related charges are expected.
