The 16-year-old male remains in serious condition in the hospital with injuries to his lower body.

Pedestrian/Vehicle Collision

At 5:13 p.m., police and EHS responded to a report of a male struck by a Metro Transit bus at the corner of Spring Garden Road and Barrington Street. Initial reports suggested the male was 25-years-old but he is actually 16-years-old. He was briefly treated at the scene prior to being transported to the QE II Hospital. Officers interviewed passengers on the bus and witnesses in the area at the time. Spring Garden Road was closed in both directions between Brunswick and Barrington Streets until approximately 8 p.m. to allow accident investigators to process the scene. The preliminary investigation suggests the youth was attempting to catch the bus which had already pulled away from the bus stop on Barrington Street and begun to turn onto Spring Garden Road. It appears he accidentally ran into the front passenger side of the bus and fell to the ground, which led to the front wheel driving over his lower body. Although the investigation is in its early stages, charges aren't expected at this time. The youth remains in critical condition at the hospital.
