At approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to a call of a possible impaired driver on Quinpool Road. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of Superstore and as they approached the vehicle the lone male occupant exited the vehicle and ran towards the officers in an attempt to assault them. One of the officers deployed the taser but it was not effective and the physical altercation continued. The officers were able to eventually subdue the suspect and take him in to custody. The 26-year-old man was taken to hospital and treated for a laceration to his head. He will appear in Halifax court tomorrow morning to face charges of impaired driving, resisting arrest and assaulting police officers.
