At approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance/property damage call at Centennial Arena, 27 Vimy Avenue in Halifax. Upon arrival, our officers determined that three security guards working at that location had been assaulted by a group of people attempting to gain entry into the facility to watch a high school hockey game. The security officers were attempting to enforce fire code occupancy regulations when the assaults occurred. One security officer was struck in the face, another was injured by flying glass from a rock thrown through the window pane of a door, and the third security officer, who was responding to the rock throwing incident, suffered a minor stab wound. Two security guards were taken to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries and released. Responding officers were directed by witnesses to the area where the suspects had fled. A search ensued and after a brief foot chase, officers arrested four suspects. During the course of one of the arrests, an officer deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW)  to subdue the suspect. Members of the Integrated HRP/RCMP General Investigative Section are conducting the investigation into this matter. The four suspects  have been released pending further investigation.
