At approximately 5:50 a.m., police responded to a reported bomb threat at the Metro Turning Point shelter, 2170 Barrington Street, Halifax. According to staff at the center, a man with a heavy accent called and stated that the building would "blow up within the hour." Staff chose to evacuate the residents temporarily while the building was searched by officers anda K-9 Unit. No explosive device was located during the search. The residents were allowed to re-enter the premise and regular business operations began by approximately 7:30 a.m. This matter remains under investigation.
