At 2 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 102 inbound between the Kearney Lake Road and Lacewood Drive exits. A cement truck went off the road and flipped on its side. The 52-year-old male driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It appears that the accident occurred as the result of some debris on the road that created a hazard. Several motorists avoided the debris but the cement truck driver lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid the evasive actions of the other motorists.
