Members of Halifax Regional Police were investigating a previously reported theft file and attended an address on Churchill Court in Dartmouth as a result of that investigation. Officers attempted to make contact to arrest the suspect, who is known to police, at which point he refused to exit the residence and barricaded himself inside. Information was received that the suspect potentially had access to weapons. The Emergency Response Team was activated to assist in the arrest and a 29-year-old man was arrested without incident inside the residence at approximately 1:15 a.m. The man is facing the following criminal code charges: one count of theft, three counts of breach of court orders and two counts of resist arrest and is scheduled to appear in court on December 17. There were no injuries.
