GO #12-28 - Shooting

At 12:34 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting at the Metro Transit bus terminal on Wyse Road. Officers were on scene within one minute of the call and located a 16-year-old male suffering from gun shot wounds. The victim was transported to the QE II hospital with what was believed to be life threatening injuries. At this time, it appears the victim was walking with his friends and was approached by the suspect, leading to a confrontation and shots being fired. The suspect ran from the scene heading eastbound on Nantucket Avenue. The suspect was described as a black male in his late teens to early 20's, 5'9" to 6', heavy set, braided hair, wearing a jacket and blue jeans and carrying what is believed to be a handgun. The matter remains under investigation by the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime and General Investigation sections. Update - January 1, 2012 (4:58 p.m.)

The victim remains in the hospital, however his injuries are no longer considered to be life threatening.
