GO# 12-33328 - Aggravated Assault

At approximately 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing at The Palace, 1721 Brunswick Street in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers located a 22-year-old man who had been stabbed in the abdomen. EHS attended the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital with a serious but non life threatening injury. Witnesses at the scene provided police with a description of the suspect responsible for the attack and within approximately 5 minutes patrol units located and arrested a male suspect. This matter remains under investigation at this time and it's expected that charges will be forthcoming.

Update - March 4, 2012 (4:49 p.m.)

A 21-year-old man has been charged with the following offences:- Section 268 (1) - aggravated assault- Section 88 (1) - possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose- Section 90 (1) - carry a concealed weapon

He is being held in custody and will appear in Halifax Court on Monday.
