At approximately 5:10 p.m., police received an untraceable 9-1-1 call stating that there was a bomb on a Metro Transit Bus. The caller hung up and no further details were given. Metro Transit were notified of the call and a message was sent out to all of their buses with respect to this information. One of the bus drivers who was travelling from Dartmouth to Halifax reported that a passenger had turned over an abandoned kit bag to him around the same time as the 9-1-1 call. The bus stopped immediately on Barrington Street between Morris and South Streets and the passengers were evacuated. Patrol officers responded and evacuated the immediate area of the bus. Members of the bomb squad attended the scene and were able to successfully deal with the bag. There was nothing suspicious located inside. The incident remains under investigation.
