GO #12-53737 - Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

At 12:01 a.m., police responded to a single vehicle crash that occurred on Prince Albert Road near the intersection with Sinclair Street in Dartmouth. A motorist who witnessed the accident stated that the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Prince Albert Road when the driver lost control. The car crossed the centerline, struck the curb and a power pole and then plunged into Lake Banook. The witness entered the lake, smashed out the passenger side window of the vehicle and removed the driver who was the sole occupant of the car. The driver was transported to the QEII Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. The identity of the 30-year-old male victim hasn't been released pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the accident remains under investigation and at this time it's believed that speed may have been a factor.

Update - April 14, 2012 (3:50 p.m.)

The victim has been identified as Brian Andrew Rozee of Dartmouth. The cause of the accident still remains under investigation.
