At 6:33 p.m. police responded to the 0-100 block of Flamingo Drive in Halifax to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival at the scene officers located the victim, a 78-year-old woman, who had received a life-threatening stab wound. The victim was taken to hospital and immediately underwent surgery. She remains in hospital at this time. Police located and arrested a 41-year-old man at the scene. This was not a random act as the victim and accused in this incident are known to each other.
Investigators in the HRP/RCMP General Investigation Section and Major Crime Unit conducted the investigation into this incident. John Jason Salah has been remanded into custody on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday, April 30.
