GO #12-65353 - Stolen Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

At 4:30 a.m., East members became aware of a possible stolen motor vehicle that had been recently involved in a theft of gas and vehicle pursuit in the lower Sackville area. Information was received that the vehicle was heading towards Dartmouth along the Magazine Hill. Marked police units attempted to complete a traffic stop on the vehicle while on Windmill road, however the vehicle accelerated and continued to drive recklessly. Police discontinued the pursuit as the vehicle turned onto Akerley Boulevard. Moments later, units discovered that the vehicle was involved in a single vehicle accident at Akerley Boulevard and Isnor Drive. Responding members arrested the 19-year-old female driver and a 20-year-old female passenger without incident. Both occupants were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and eventually returned to police headquarters. The driver is being held for morning court and was charged with the following offences: breach of probation, possession of stolen property over $5,000 (stolen vehicle),theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000 (theft of gas), dangerous operation of a motor vehicle X 2 and flight from police X 2. The passenger was released from custody and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 (stolen vehicle), theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000 (theft of fuel) and joy riding.
